    My First Sunset Photo - Critique Request

    This below photo is my first sunset photo with my Canon T3. Currently, I don't know much about post-processing, so none was done on this photo. Photo was a hand-held shot. I did not shoot in RAW because, again, I don't have much PP experience. I will, however, work my way towards shooting in RAW format as I gain more experience with PP.

    I would appreciate any input on this, please. Thanks...

    I am just starting in photography but here is my 2 cents.

    I love your sky and the light. Also like how the sun is framed by the two trees. The thing I am not sure I like is the buildings. Too many of them IMO.

    But let's make one thing clear : I have tried to do sunsets and my shots are nowhere as good as yours so... great work!

    Luc, thanks so much for your feedback. I'll tell ya--I will be the first one to say that my photos are absolutely nothing to write home about. It's as simple as that. What would one expect for a beginner, anyway? For you to take your valuable time to comment on my "nothing" photo is greatly appreciated.

    Jeff, no photo is a "nothing" photo if you learn something from shooting it. Keep shooting and keep posting. The advantage of digital is free shooting and the ability to post on forums like this. Your Canon camera comes with an image editing program CD. Play with that.

    Hi Jeff,

    I think I'd suggest;
    i) a couple of stops less exposure to get more detail in the sky and darken the buildings (if they are not contributing enough)
    ii) a slight crop (of < 5% height) off the lower edge - just to remove the car roofs

    Hope that helps,
