Lone butterfly...with Iguassu falls behind it!

cataratas-006.jpgDear all. I just found this picture in my archive. It was shot with my first digital camera, an old compact Nikon E2100, back in 2004! So, quality is not good, but I like this picture and decided to share it with you, for comments/feedback. These waterfalls are part of Iguassu falls, one of the new 7 wonders of nature!

    Hope you like it!

Wow that is a great capture.

I would remove some of that dead space in the foreground with a crop starting at its intersection on the left. That would leave enough foreground, and bring up the size of the butterfly relative to the surroundings. It will also make more obvious that the butterfly is enjoying the scenery.

There is also something sticking out from the wing at the rear but cannot make out what it is.

    Something like this.

Lone butterfly...with Iguassu falls behind it!

A really unique capture that is well worth taking the time to make everything out of it that can be made. Consider eliminating the leaf sticking up behind the butterfly. Also consider desaturating and/or darkening the background just a tad.

By the way, very nice positioning of the butterfly between the streams of water.

My first thoughts were that this could work well with a tighter crop. Then I scrolled down and found that Bobo had done exactly what I was considering.

Although the result is now so good that I bet most people would assume it is a composite image not a single shot.

Hi Geoff. Well, your comments reinforce Bobobird's thoughts on making the crop. I absolutely agree that the image is much better after the crop. Thank you! And it is a single shot!

Hi Blake. By mentioning "quality is not good" I just meant that probably it could be more sharp and deep coloured if it was shot using a DSLR camera. Anyway, I still like this picture a lot. Thank you for your comment!
