    Pied Billed Grebe

A few days ago I posted a Grebe on her nest. Yesterday I went and checked on her. Hubby and her kept trading places on the nest and while he would leave in the opposite direction....when it was her turn to eat, she favoured a spot close to where I was. I watched her catch and eat 4 Weatherfish.
After she would eat she would get to cleaning all the muck off from the prior meal. When done...back to the hunt.

Wonderful series Paul. Griebes are a bird I have not gotten close to here, most times they are away from shore and diving. Keep shooting and posting...

Thank you Joe. These little guys are tough no doubt. Spooky and distant. However, if one spends the time, one gets lucky now and again.

A nice set of pictures Paul. I love to see birds from other parts of the world. Also a nice observation on some of their habits.

Great photos! Were you using a blind? There's a lake near where I live where I've seen grebe in the past. Your photos have inspired me to revisit and see what I can capture.

Thanks Bruce, no blind used here. A blind would certainly be of help many times. I hope you get some great shots and I am happy my photos may have inspired you.
