Photo Challenge for August 2009
Hi Folks,
The moment you've all been waiting for ...
... so let's get it underway!
Rules of Engagement:
1. Image must have been taken this month (August) (or thereabouts) eg if you took a shot towards the end of last month, but didn't have time to enter it in last month's competition, then that's fine :) (I just want to encourage people to "get out and get shooting", and not to just submit historic work).
2. Enter as many images as you like, but only 1 per post please :)
3. No theme
Re: Photo Challenge for August 2009
OH another themeless contest? boo.....
I have a theme...nothing from new zealand..lol...hehe...:):):):)
how about a color theme? or an action theme? :):):):)
Re: Photo Challenge for August 2009
... and no surfing pics ;) :):):):)
Trouble is, people get used to it being theme-less and treat as such even if there is one!
Then people are unsure how to vote, i.e. should they dis-regard an excellent photo that isn't in the theme?
Given that it's all for fun and mainly to get people out shooting and improving themselves, ultimately having a theme may be counter-productive.
Maybe have a separate themed challenge?
Re: Photo Challenge for August 2009
I am OK with that..my surfing pics dont seem to do aswell as bunnies and kids on a pier....
seriously a seperate themed thread contest might be cool...like amore advanced contets with more rules like no color manipulation or serious editing,,,like the Pure thread we talked about earlier,,,just allow cropping and maybe sharpness and contrast correction and light,,,

Re: Photo Challenge for August 2009
I can remember I have seen some kind of voting in Dgrin.
The system could be adopted here, couldn't it ?
It is under Additional Options where it gives the possibility Post a pole. Am I wrong ?
I also think that the assignments should be more difficult, more demanding ...
Could I dare to propose myself to moderate it ?
If I have doubts or don't understand Dave would help me on private...
If I go on holidays Dave would take my place for the time ...
In fact I am going on the 8.th to Algarve but I will have internet on my Macbook. And I have now an android mobile phone ...
:)
Dave, I understand you work. I am retired... :)
Re: Photo Challenge for August 2009
Hi Antonio,
Just a quick note to say that "we have a poll feature here" but unfortunately, it's limited to a maximum of 10 options.
To be honest, the voting bit is pretty easy to process from my end - I just write out a list of numbers (1, 2, 3 etc - one for each post) and then alongside write a 3, 2, or 1 (for 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice), and then just add them up - it actually takes longer to lock threads - move commentary, and then assemble the results post.

Dave, I don't want to take the administration from at all.:)
I would just like to participate in what I consider to be useful and fun for lots of us.

Hi Antonio,
No worries on your suggestion, I took it at face value, a kind offer to help organise something.
Cheers, Dave
