Film Noir/daguerreotype: boredom took the better of me(plus new toys!)

Hi all. I received my new 3 point lighting set up. And tonight i only used one.I was bored. So i decided to try to capture a self portrait of myself with 2 goals. 1) a film noir look 2)to bring out all my imperfections. I decided to try this because i got the idea from one of Jeremy's "A boy with out shoes" recent blog, where he got the idea from a bloke on tv, they called it "daguerreotype". I think, more like hope, i acheived this. Must point out that next time i do this i will be using a black back drop, and go closer to the face.

I can appreciate that these are similar to the style of film noir but I don't understand what makes them similar to a dageurreotype. Dageurreotypes typically have much more dynamic range and contrast.

thanks mike, i do agree, more towards film noir. oh well, great part of the learning curve! lol But i think i did somewhat bring out my imperfections. In editing i did put the contrast as high as i can without going overbored.
