The prototype machine - dubbed AWARE2 - has the potential to take pictures with resolutions of up to 50 gigapixels, equivalent to 50,000 megapixels, according to the team from Duke University in North Carolina..."

    Have a guess :)
As soon as it makes it into 35mm DSLRs, folks will start complaining that the 100 Giga-Pixel version get them better photos.

On the plus side though, one should be able to do macro photography using an ultra wide angle lens ...

    ... from 3 blocks away!

As a bonus, you can actually teleport your subject by capturing his image, and emailing the data to any location on Earth.
