Hi Greg, the dog photo has very good composition and works well. The bird shot is far too busy with distracting colour for mine. The bird is so colourful but so is the whole shot.

Thanks Wayne, Your right, the bird cage is a distraction from the main subject and my daughters red beanie takes away from the image as well.
Might have a play in photoshop.
