    South Bank by Night

It was a nice night last night so I popped into South Bank to try a few shots. The first is a view from the Goodwill bridge looking up the river, the second is a shot of the Goodwill Bridge. The third is a Nepalese Pagoda that was built during World Expo in 1988. The fourth is the Grand Arbour which consists of 443 steel tendrils covered in Bougainvillea that snakes it's way through the parklands for about 1Km.

    C&C welcome

Pls clck on image for best viewing.

    Very crisp and perfectly exposed.

Living in the UK, I'm amazed how you have such clear, rain free skies.

Super set of images, Dave. For some reason I find the 4th one entrancing. It must be that we seem to be on a journey down a tunnel with all this enchanting plant life around us. Gorgeous.

On the second one, that light on the water under the bridge sort of doesn't make sense. It looks like a daylight reflection. It must ligth coming through trees that are behind the bridge out of line of sight. For me, that reflection sort-of unbalances the picture. Maybe that's more about me that the image.

Thanks for the comments Geoff, Richard and Donald.

Geoff we've had magnificant weather here for the last week or so. Daily temp range 12-24, cloudless sky and clear air. It makes you feel glad to be alive !

Donald that weird reflection in #2 is certainly a distraction which I noticed straight away. I thought I'd see what others thought. I think I need to pull out the Cloning Tool.

Very nice Dave. Great colour, nice and sharp. Where'd all the people go?

Thanks Mark. It was a Tuesday night so I suppose it was fairly quiet. The Arbour walkway shot was a 20 sec exposure and I had to wait for it to be clear and hope no one else came along before the shot had finished. I was a bit lucky with that.

Very nice series. I am with Donald on that 4th one. The others are nice but the curve of the structure over the walk is almost hypnotic.

Thanks Paul. I have tried photographing the Arbour during the day but I think you get a more interesting shot at night.

I agree with Geoff, us in the UK are having the wettest drought ever lol.

Lovely pictures indeed, I love the colours of the first picture as they reflect across the water.

    Hi Dave,

First let me say these are a lovely set of night shots you should be well pleased with.

I do agree about that strange reflection in #2 needing the clone tool.

There is one other minor issue that distracts me; in #1, there are one or two shadows on the reflection of the orange light left of centre, in particular, the straight one going back to the source, since the cause isn't obvious.

My favourite is the last, perfect height of camera/tripod for the composition.

    Cheers,

Thanks for your comments Dave. There are some shadows in the water that cut across the left hand side of image no 1 that were caused by a boat - a paddle wheeler I think it was. In hindsight I should have waited for it to pass but at the time I thought it might leave an interesting light trail (which it didn't). I'm not sure what caused the shadows down the long orange light reflection but I might be able to clone them out.

In image no 4, the camera was about a metre above the ground and pointing upwards a few degrees.

Thank you Sharon. Yes they are like giant fronds aren't they. It really is a spectacular walk.

all good; but I agree No.4 takes the winning prize IMO.
    Well done.

Love the reflection of lights in first image, especially, of the giant wheel.

Thanks Sahil. The wheel changes colour every so often and I was lucky to get red that night.
