    Rose-Breasted Grosbeak

We've had 3 of these in our backyard over the past week. Finally was able to get a few shots yesterday. Male, female, and juvenile (I think.) First time we have ever had these! Cool birds...

All taken w/60D, 100-400L, mixed ISO, some with touch of flash/BB.

    Thanks for checking them out.

Great shots and lovely looking birds. Crisp and clear and captured the colours well. Wish we had those in the UK.

Are these all hand held? I have been trying to get some bird pictures from my garden too, but even at 300mm im struggling so I appreciate how hard it must have been to acheive.

Thanks! They are from a tri-pod with a solid ballhead (Acratech GP). If you are hand-holding, you will need image stabilization and a pretty high shutter speed, though it is possible for sure. Tough though! Tripod and ballhead has greatly improved my photos...

I used to see these here in southern Missouri, but not in a long time. Very nice shots. Thank you.
