    Nice....

My eyes must be playing tricks - the tower looks slightly tilted to the left but the roof seems straight. Hmmmmm...

Aye,,Now what's a photographer to do wi that...? I went with the roof as guide.. George the sheep suggested the tower builders liked a drink!

and he says if the grass isn't straight it's 'cos he hasn't munched that side yet,

    Thanks Bobo...

I hate to be the one to introduce negative comments, but George is, I believe, .............. a she!

And whilst we're on about it .... those birds have got to go.

I've been looking for a sky like that for weeks. Beautifully captured and presented in this image.

I wondered what it would have been like to have slightly dodged Georgette and the trunks of those (I think they are) silver birch trees just to lift them (brighten them) up a bit? Wonder what you think about that suggestion?

I will not comment on your ability to sex a sheep at such an awesome distance except to say your childhood must have been a hoot!

I Knew it needed brightened but not all over and wasn't sure exactly where to pep it. I will tickle Georgette and the trees.

Thank you so much for the advice,

As for the clouds..well, I set out to shoot a cherry tree with a twisted bark and then a double viaduct..blown out boring skies scuppered one plan and background traffic the other...hence Pastoral.

I'll get the other shots sometime.

I think you've brightened too much on the re-work. Also, I prefer the composition of the first one.

If I may ................! all I have done here is, on your original JPG, in GIMP, (hope you don't mind me doing so), put on a new transparent layer in Overlay mode and then dodged using a 15% white brush on that gorgeous little sheep and on the trunks of the silver birch trees. One idea!

    Yes....sooo much better,

I 're -touched' usling Silver ffex Pro 2....( a wonderful birthday present from my man )

Layers and all are beyond me. I have Elements 8 but its a bit like giving a monkey 'War and Peace' and an alarm clock I am afraid..

I will get there...hopefully slightly ahead of my brain.

    You lucky lady!

The same end could be achieved using SEP2. It would be a case of putting lots and lots of very small control points up and down the trunks of the trees, grouping them and then raising the brightness. And, of course, one on my dear Georgette.

All the church towers in my neck of the woods are like that- subsiding and leaning one way or the other. We just get used to looking at things a bit cock-eyed. .

I often wonder why people b/w the glorious colours of nature, but this works really well for me. Including shaun. I do like Douglas's suggestions re the selective brightening of the birch trunks and shaun/a's magnificent fleece, just to emphasise that bit od brightness and hope to the left of the steeple .

'Duncan' is the other one I get a lot of. But, so long as I'm fed and watered and given the occasional cuddle, I'll answer to almost anything!
