    Just Thinking

    Hi,

This is my Jack Russell, Kristr, taking some time to think about things. I converted to b&w to try to bring out some more details. Any C&C more than welcome.

    Cheers

Hi Jason. Kristr is a fine looking pooch and in sharp focus, which I tend to favour. Unfortunately, in this pose, the background is also in sharp focus and as a result, items like the concrete, mulch, and the black item under the paw are stealing attention away from Kristr.

You might want to experiment with reducing the contrast and perhaps softening the background. I don't know how well that would work in monochrome as I work in colour but it might be worth a try.

    Hi Frank,

Thank you for the feedback and ideas. I had a go at what you suggested, used the clone tool and the blur brush. I have also included the colour version for comparison.

    Cheers

For me, it makes a world of difference, particularly the colour version. My attention is not diverted and I can really enjoy the expression on Krstr's face. The most important thing though, is whether or not you like it.
