I was up to the cabin today just playing around...
...when this beauty flew in...
Now, I have never been much for shooting birds (with a camers that is), but I could not resist this. C&C always welcome.
And this little fella was nice enough to sit still long enough for me to get one shot.
I gotta admit...birds are kinda fun, when they will stay still for more than 1/500th of a second.

Looks like you had fun Jon. I prefer the first picture but would like it see it with a bit more drama. It just looks a little soft at the moment. I know nothing about photographing birds so can't comment about the pictures. It is difficult to ensure that there are no distracting twigs and grass though!

Nigel, thanks for your comments. I know nothing about birds also, except that out of 30 or so shots, these were the only ones that didn't have something cutting infront of the bird. Very frustrating, but still fun. Here is a different shot of the pond, in color this time
