    Mother and Baby Elephant B&W

Over the Christmas holidays we went to the Chobe River and were amazed at the amount of young elephants. I took this picture when mother and baby were in the shade sheltering from the hot sun. The young one was very unsteady on its feet and the mother kept supporting and nudging the baby with her trunk, a very tender moment. What did catch my attention are the hairs on the trunk which adds a soft texture against the rough skin.

Being B&W, I just wonder if the brighter areas are perhaps a little too bright. Or maybe I just expect an elephant to be darker.

Hi Geoff many thanks for the comment. I will look at reducing the brighter areas to see how it feels. I was battling a bit with shade and a shaft of sunlight perhaps not the best picture for B&W as there might be too much contrast but I was drawn to the subject.
