Those clouds are really something.
Need to see in lightbox to appreciate this image.
Well done Ken.
Ken, nice work on the clouds, really unusual. To me the sun is too bright and keeps drawing my eye and the yellow appears a bit too saturated.
Thanks Bobo.
Thanks Clive. This was as much as I could soften the impact of the sun without being too destructive. The original was really an eye grabber and totally took over.

I think you have just the right exposure balance there Ken; bit of foreground, sky and sun.
Does a metal detector work on gold? I thought it was only a ferrous metal device - but perhaps technology has moved on since I last tried to build one 40 odd years ago
Good composition with the tree line too,
Thank you for nice critique, Dave
And yes they do. In fact they are so clever now that you can set them to discriminate out ferrous metals and only pick up other metals such as gold. And we live right on the edge of where large quantities of gold were found in the gold rush of the 1800's Weekend prospectors are still picking up nuggets. But not us so far, unfortunately!
Cheers
Ken

Metal detectors work beautifully on gold...silver, platinum and a million bottle caps and beer tabs. I've all but quit using mine on the beaches for all the debris inbetween.
There are two ways to get nice sunsets or sunrises. One is to use granduated neutral density filters, blocking the sky while aving the ground...the other is to shoot two exposures and doing essentially the same thing though "painting" in one over the other using a layer mask.
Thanks for that useful feedback hint Johnny. I don't have the ND filters but can sure do the double exposure later mask thing.
