    North Pier, Blackpool

Normally I would be the first to agree that B&W should be left well alone. But sometimes I think an image can benefit from it, if the photographer is trying to enhance a mood or make a statement. Here I just wanted to portray the walker in his sense of space. The colour version, I think, detracts from that. I've resisted a tighter crop for the same reason.

The comments and citique, here, are always appreciated.

Mark, I really like the composition. Also I'd have to agree that colo(u)r would detract from the mood here. I wonder how it would do if you cropped about 20 per cent off the bottom?

Well, it would put the guy nearer a third, but I think I prefer him having more empty beach to walk into as it is now.

    Nice pic, Mark, welcome back

    Cheers,

Nice image. I agree with your approach...this is about a sense of space.

The trouble with cropping this image, as I see it, is that you don't want to lose anything from the sides. So possibly going to a 'non standard' size like 3 x 1 ratio and just cropping the bottom a bit might be worth a go.

But I wouldn't ditch the original. I think both images would then tell a different story.

    Cheers all,

Like I said. I thought a long time over the crop. And decided against it.

Cheers, Dave. Work has calmed down a bit, but still busy elsewhere. Will keep popping in!
