    Flying Bass

Took this picture today at the nature area at the Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May, NJ. We saw the hawk/falcon flying around with the fish in its claws but didn't realize that it was a largemouth bass. It kept circling around the lake and then finally disappeared. We did not see it catch the fish, which would have been pretty neat.

Nice catch Steve thats an osprey and it is real neat to watch them catch fish cause they will hover 40 feet above the water then drop straight down on top of their prey talons first, the bird will disapear for a second then erupt out of the water with large fish. They will fish for their mate who is sitting on nest or take turns sitting. First time I have seen anyone catch one with a bass though.

Yep nice catch...the both of you! Don't think I have seen them with a bass either. Usually a trout.
