    Re: Cattle

    Well, I like it.

Don't know if you experienced it Jeff, but I've found it quite a challenge to successfully shoot white cattle (even if they are a dirty grey colour!). But I suppose the overall tones in the background weren't fighting too much with the lighter tones on the cattle. - It's even worse at agricultural shows when they've been washed and liberally sprinkled with talcum powder to really whiten up.

I think it's very well constructed image with the cattle well over to one side, allowing us to look away to the mountains beyond.

    Beautifully worked.

It's the bright white and black or dark brown cattle in bright sunshine that I really struggle with.

    Nice muted tones here.

Its only possible to get a good exposure in twilight, on an overcast day, or when its misty. I told one of my neighbors about the talcum powder, he didn't believe it.

I suspect the rural French farmer may struggle with that one. But, I've been there, done it, got the tee-shirt (my dad used to breed Charolais cattle).

    LOL

Very nice image (again) Jeff, I was just showing Rebecca (beckyhumphries) your other pictures from this hilltop this evening; very impressive images.

What time of the day was this taken? Did it require an early rise?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Thanks for the encouragement Dave, this was about 8am if I remember correctly.
