Re: Heron time again!
Nice job, Jeep! Good looking bird too. Where is this place? It doesn't look like Juanita.

Re: Heron time again!
Thank you Clive, Jack and Leo. They can be a challenge for sure, but it is made easier that they like the waters edge. I hope this season to get some eating fish and frogs.

Re: Heron time again!
Damn Paul...you keep coming up with these superb bird shots, and just like
Jack I can't get the ones around here to sit still long enough. Even after a
very stealthy stalk, once I see them then they spot me and off they go.
Drive by in the truck and they'll just sit there, but park and walk back
down the road towards them they're soon history.
I think all 4 are excellent, and my only suggestion might be to clone out
the stick passing right by the birds beak in #3, but otherwise I wouldn't change
a thing.

Re: Heron time again!
High quality stuff across the board. Only 'complaint' is about those bridge supports or pipes (?) in the third one.
But this one ......... That's terrific.

Re: Heron time again!
Nice captures Paul. It appears in #3 that part of a leg and foot is missing, quite common to see that here in Florida...Alligators. Good shots.

Although they are all phenomenal, the last one is very sharp and clear! Well done, Paul!

Re: Heron time again!
Thank you to everyone! I do enjoy chasing these weary fellows probably as much or more than any other birds.
Nicola, I worked my way in slowly and got in fairly close but the grass to his left was in the way so I had to go in a bit further and lay in the grass at waters edge. I ended up no more than 10ft from him. He nearly flew off a couple times. He knew I was there from 80yrds or better. It is all in the approach, and doesn't work every time.

Re: Heron time again!
Good job Joe, half the battle is finding them, then I get to him! I got a couple more today. Might post a couple later.
Meanwhile.....last year we had a Heron thread....... rather than dig it up and have to sort through 100 pages, lets make this the 2012 Heron thread.
To the next MOD to read this....can you change the title to Hearon thread 2012.....Please?

Re: Heron time again!
Thanks Paul, I hate to tell you but they are so common in the Florida marshes and seashore that most time I do not photograph them unless something special is happening. Florida is great for bird photography.
