    Aberdour Pier

The more this pier falls to bits the more I love it. All C&C welcomed.

A perfect angle I would say.

It shows a nice perspective. I'm just looking at the shore line of the far shore - does it need a slight counterclockwise rotation or is it just me?

You could do a collage of the pier in gradual states as it falls apart over time.

    Thanks Mal....is it off

I lined the horizons up on one of those straightening graphs ...is that the best way to do it?

    It's a great structure.

It is an interesting structure Sharon. I like the way the natural elements work with eachother here. The horizon is a tick low on the right. Just a tiny bit.

    Thank you Paul.

I have looked at that horizon until my eyes bleed ..can anyone tell me how to ensure it is spot on? Would appreciate it immensely.

With this sort of scene, Sharon, you don't have a firm horizon to work with. River banks, sea shores, etc all tend to be 'off level' as they fade into the distance.

Maybe it does 'appear' to require a very slight anti clockwise rotation, but your verticals, on the pier, are spot on; and that is all you can really go by here.

Very nice job on this , sharon. As far as horizons are concerned, a hot shoe level will give you consistant results. You can also line up the horizontal line of focus dots to the horizon, or the very bottom edge of the frame in the view finder to the horizon.(won't be able to do that with a ball head though)

    Re: Aberdour Pier

Between us we should be able to get all the piers and harbours around the coast of Fife! NB - For those who haven't seen them, I've taken a couple of shots of areas close by to where both Sharon and I live (but we don't live together, if you see what I mean). She lives in a house and I live in another house. Oh, I shouldn't have started this post.

I love how you've treated this one - the Pentland Hills, the sky, the water, the rocks on the foreshore, the subtle vignette. A cracker.

Haaa...waves to Donald in his totally different house!!

Everyone's comments have been so positive and helpful in an area that isn't perhaps my normal 'forte'.
Donald... Your praise has a value all of it's own as you know the area and conditions and produce the most exquisite renditions of it yourself.

    Thank you.
