    Elephants at Sunset

An evening trip on the Chobe River in Northern Botswana is a magical time. To me the image is not perfect but it captures the mood of nature at its best. I can still hear the water and the Elephants rough skin rubbing against each other.

    Hi Clive,
I was browsing a book in the bookstore the other day. One had a whole host of images on elephants. This one would have been well up towards the top end of the images published. I look forward, vvery much, to seeing images that you consider worthy.
I love the atmosphere in this one, but would prefer a little more detail in the beasties themselves (to draw more attention and hold it). Although more silhouette would allow them to become part of the scene to a lesser extent, allowing the atmosphere to take stage front and centre.
And darken the water just a tad.

    Graham
(long way to go to get this quality)

Graham has said it all. That just oozes mood and atmosphere. Indeed, there are technical imperfections, but when you get something so packed full of feeling and emotion, then you can carry a lot of those little 'faults'.

Hi Bobo, Graham, Donald, James, many thanks for the comments and very positive feedback. My Sony camera was battling to capture this image and I wish that I had my Nikon with me. Agreed that sometimes the other qualities in an image can carry it through; I'd toyed for ages about not posting this image as it is not perfect with regards to exposure and quality but always felt it had a strength which is great to be confirmed.

You were right in posting it. I think it is fantastic for reasons already stated. Mood/atmosphere being at the top! Well done.
