    Very impressive, Pat.

I'd love to see posting something like this at a much larger size - 1o24, or even up to 1500 pixels wide, The when we clicked on it we'd see the full size version in the lightroom. I'm sure this would have even more impact viewed at larger size.

You've got lovely light in the clouds

Twice as much image = twice the impact.

    Thanks, Pat.

    Re: A Moon Shot

I see what you mean about not sure if it works, Pat.

From my somewhat limited experience of this type of shot I would say that the sky/cloud conditions have to be perfect. Which is what has caused most of my failures when the cloud cover just hasn't come up to expectations. And setting a shutter speed to suit passing clouds makes the moon difficult to expose correctly.

I would say that this sort of shot either needs quite a bit of space around the moon so that the blackness/cloud cover reasonably surrounds the moon, or the moon is sufficiently large that the clouds are just a bit of background to the main subject.

So in this particular instance, I would consider a slight crop of the left side to reduce the area of dense blackness. That would mean changing the size ratio, although cropping something from the bottom as well may work if you want to retain the current size ratio.

I'm just holding a piece of card against the screen but I do wonder if this would help to dispel your uncertainty about this shot.

    Just a thought.

Is this a composite of a couple different images? It looks kind of surreal when expanded. Maybe it is an optical illusion. After viewing the moon the way I have for years, this is quite the different image, and I cannot wrap my brain around it. Just my personal view, it is an interesting shot for sure.

    Hi Folks,
Many thanks for your comments,to answer Pierre,it is a single shot image and the formation, texture, colour and light of the clouds was the main thing that I saw and tried to portray.
    Best Wishes,Pat
