    Big (ish) cat - Lynx

More images from the couple of hours at the Muskoka wildlife Centre.
The Lynx may not be the biggest cat around, but close up, it looked really mean. Apparently, they can take down a caribou. That's by itself, not in a pack.

Graham, what a great looking cat! What lens did you use because it looks like you got pretty darn close to it.
Just a couple of things.. you could maybe use some cropping off the top on #3 and #4? And a little off the right on #5? Also, the exposure seems dark on #2. You may want to adjust that if you can.

Great shots though. I'm always so jealous of you folks who get to see such great wildlife.

Graham, great captures of a really cool cat! Whom I must say does not look all that pleased with you in a couple of those.

As for the cropping, #3 yes,#4 a little but I think #5 needs that bit of space for him to look into. Nice job.

    Great shoots Graham,
#2 and #4 are on my list. I wander if a slightly crop on #4, 1 cm from top, might frame better the cat

    Thanks for sharing those,

Thanks all, I agree with the crops.
The cat was in a cage, I was next to it - also in the cage.
It's play thing was a spade (long, 5' job) that the handler had. It went wild over it - a little concern at one or two points.
Apparently, during the hot days of summer, when it is feeling lazy it will curl up to the handlers, just like a domestic cat - er, right!

Lens I was using was a 18-250mm. I was within 6' most of the time, occasionally closer.
    Exif (no 1) 85mm on a 1.5x crop sensor, 1/400s at 400ISO, f9
    Exif (no 2) 250mm, 1/800, f6.3, iso400
    Exif (no 3) 75mm, 1/250, f10, iso400
    others similar settings.

very nice Graham, Muskoka sure is a treasure trove. I am glad to see you are making the most of it. I would hang 5 on the wall for sure.

And a Sawhet owl to finish.
24mm lens a couple of inches from the head of the owl, below you can see the handlers hand. A slightly unusual take.
