Great series Bobo. Good lookin bird. I would be enclined to clone out the red in the second. It caught my eye and yaked it away from the hawk.

All good, but, wow (as they say), you nailed the focus in this one. I think that's a super image. I particularly like the choice of arrangement/composition with all that space being left on the right-hand side. I think that really works.

The most effective ones are always the most simple (or appear simple). I think that's gorgeous.

Excellent images as usual... However, I do like the last one because of the selective focus and the creamy smooth bokeh. It totally removes the background as a distraction...

I am wondering if a closer crop into a vertical might not be nice on #'s 1 and 2...

    Wow! What can I say?

Thanks Tommy, Donald and Dave - just that you guys know, I DO listen to every piece of advice offered and do try to put that into use both when shooting and in pp.

Thanks Richard - I do have square crops of 1 and 2 and was hoping to remove all the city/farm distractions on the left. But my skills at cloning such a large section were severely lacking and ended up with a very mottled look. Still working on that.

Here is something you can try rather than the large cloning to remove distracting objects in the background, blur them. In Photoshop make a selection of the post and hawk then select the inverse of the selection. Under Filters choose Blur (using Gaussian Blur you can control the amount). I did this quickly to use as an example.

Thanks Joe, yes was doing just that on this one. Your edit puts my version to shame.

Note the blinking eye. The eye should be much smokier but pp killed that somewhat. May have to redo without letting anything touch the eye area.
