    Lighthouse - Killarney, Ontario

Couple of shots a few months old, eventually got round to processing.
Working my through post processing using new tricks/tools.
    Seems to be working.
    CnC welcome.

    Hi Graham,

I really like the simplicity of these shots. The first really strikes me, especially the very interesting gradations of blue from water to sky. Would consider cloning out the sign in the 2nd image, as well as the antennae in both (I like lighthouses to look potentially old and timeless), might also nudge down the the red saturation a tad. Nice images overall.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

Both nice shots from my perspective. i think I'd prefer a little less water in the first shot as I think it would be a bit better balanced.. There's already plenty of blue and it's a little dominant for me.

I really love the angle and perspective of the second shot. Personally, I would clone out the sign on the right as Kevin suggested as well as the bush in the left corner. The whiteness of the lighthouse is not as bright as in the first photo so it might need a bit more exposure as well. Not sure if it needs a slight anti-clockwise rotation or perspective distortion but I might try and correct that as well.

    Great captures!

    Hi Graham,

I agree with much of what Kevin and Malcolm say.

That sign, complete with ugly bolts(?), has to go.

On the second, you also left a couple of triangles of bright sky peeking through the railings atop the platform.

    Nice compositions,

I too prefer the second shot. For CnC, if you're going to process the first one spend some time and take out the residue from the sign I can still see. For the second, the people are posed so they must be at least half of the reason for the photo. For me they should be about 20 feet closer to the camera so they are easily recognizable and take up a more dominant ratio of the semi-portrait photo. Without a similar red on the clouds as would probably be evident from a blazing sunset, the red on the rocks is a bit distracting even if it is real.

Nice compositions and exposure in both. A sometimes difficult task with an ND filter or was the first one just a long exposure.

Andrew - as requested (for 2). My wife and I (posed couple) are larger and the sign is removed.
The granite is actually pink, but I reduced the red a little so it contrasts less to the sky.
No ND filter, just a long exposure. Try staying still in frame for 15 seconds, not as easy as it looks.
Mal - lighthouse lightened as per request. I looked at the angle and the central corner or the lighthouse was straight. Optical illusion perhaps because of the shape of the building?

For me the re-posted photo of you and your wife is a better result. You take up a larger portion of the frame and there is not so much competing for attention. Good one.
