    A couple of days

We rarely get extreme weather in London, but we do sometimes get rapid changes.

The first was taken on Friday, the second this morning.

Not much snow compared to what some forum members get, but it is quite a lot for here.

    All comments welcomed.

You're at the wrong end of the country, Dave. We've hardly got anything - the merest dusting of snow. It's usually the other way around!

A couple of nice images. I like how you've lit the second one. Very atmospheric. Was that an on-camera flash?

The first one is, I think, a very well composed image. You've got yourself a just the right height so that the grasses/reeds form the gateway/pathway to the water. And with them in shadow and the sun on the water and the land beyond, or attention is taken onto them. Lovely.

Very true, Donald. I noticed the forecast for Stornoway showed a maximum of 8C today - what's that all about?

I would love to say I had spotted the arrangement of items in the first shot and the shadow on the reedmace, but I didn't. It was just that the light was so good at the time.

You are correct the lighting in the foreground of the second one is from the on camera flash. Within a few minutes of leaving home I knew I should have taken the tripod , so for some shots I could not get a fast enough shutter speed, therefore I tried the flash.

Head west, Dave, head west for good weather.

Just like your first image here in the far SW today! OK, the sun became a little hazy from midday onwards but mild and dry with a bumblebee buzzing around my garden.

But back to these photos. Yes both are excellent.

With the second one, you have managed to keep the branches looking sharp despite very poor lighting conditions.

It is a small lake called the Shoulder of Mutton pond in Wanstead Park.
