    file format conversion

    Hi, I am a new one and need some expert help from all knowledgeable members, my problem is how to convert an HDR file to jpeg file. thanks in advance.

    I am using Photoshop CS3.

    What file format is it in now. probably a tiff, if you want to do some editing on it further than save it as a PSD file, if you want to same it to a smal file size to upload to the web than a JPEG would be best. File>save as > as the type of file you want.

    HDR files are special 32 bit floating point files. Converting to jpeg would produce an unsuable image (VERY flat). They need to be processed (tone mapped). This is done with a plug in (HDR Efex Pro, Photomatix etc). This can also be done in CS5 (Photoshop HDR Pro). I am not sure if CS3 has the same feature.

    There's a website for conversion of formats in general (not specificly for fotographers). The name is format factory. Have alook at http://www.formatoz.com/index.html.
