    Project 52 by Rob Douglas

I figured I'd get the ball rolling and get a thread up. I'll be carrying my backpack everywhere now (like I didn't before lol) with this project in mind so I will hopefully push myself to capture shots that will challenge my skills both in the original capture of the image and my PP skills as well.

With the way my week is going at work I'm either going to have to do a night shot or wait until Saturday to take a walk.

That might work. Being a heavy wrecker operator I have some pretty cool trucks and equipment to shoot.

Week 1 "Fire in the sky"

Got this shot this morning as I was about to leave the shop. The clouds looked like flames rolling across the sky.

Great capture Rob. I've been after a sky like that for weeks! Did you do much post processing?

That is a beautiful image, Rob. It is quite fiery especially with the silhouette. Beautiful indeed.

Thanks for the kind words on this image everyone. I wish I had more time this week to have thought out and executed a more planned shot to test/push myself. This was more of a shot of opportunity. Though it did have me thinking quick on my feet to get my settings right the first time. well... almost

Only PP on this shot is -1.05 on exposure. I was in a bit of a hurry to get the shot being at work so I exposed slightly to far to the right. Other than that it's as shot.

For me, this is part of the challenge too. I'm not always carry my camera and I know, there is no excuse.
    Great opportunity, wonderfully executed picture.

Awesome shot. I'm rarely up early enough to get good morning skies...

    Week 3 "The Grove"

Thought I'd try my hand at a subtle HDR this week since I've never done it before. My goal was to gain as much detail as I could without over cooking it and making it unrealistic.

    Re: Week 3 "The Grove"

Looks very natural to me Rob. I've never tried any kind of HDR and I'm wondering if the reason for it in this shot was so you could keep the detail in the bright spots in the snow without the trees getting to dark. Sorry for the silly question, but if I don't ask silly questions I never know for sure if what I'm thinking is right or if I'm way off the mark
