Festival of Lights - Pukekura Park - New Plymouth, NZ

    Hi Folks,

Just got back from "holiday" - didn't have much time for photography, but managed a couple of shots from the annual festival of light that they put on every year in the park.

Nothing special in the capture - just standard low-light stuff. Hope you all enjoy.

Dazzingly colors, surprised there are no people present but looks like the ghost of someone in the second image.

My father in law lives just down the road from Pukekura park. We were just envying him living in New Zealand with the warmth, great scenery and day light, and then we saw this! Cold, dark and windy today in Northern BC. Just what I needed to make me want to gnaw my leg off to escape another three plus months of winter.

On the other hand these are great images and well done. Despite my personal situation it does cheer me up. What is the opposite to schadenfreude? Keep stuff like this coming to remind me that somewhere in the world there is light and beauty.
    Happy New Year

Nice images Colin. I love low light night shots. The perfect reflections just add to the beauty.

Nice shots Colin...they definitely have the "WOW Factor"...Festival of Lights - Pukekura Park - New Plymouth, NZ

Showed them to my Mrs., and she liked them so much that she saved
and applied the first pic as her new background image.

    Thanks John,

There were quie a few people around, but long exposures and a bit of luck did the trick for the most part.

    Thanks Donald,

To be honest, it's really nothing more than just using a tripod and something that gets the shutterspeed in the 20 to 30 seconds range. Pretty much SOOC too.

Holidays - ha - kids were a nightmare with constant complaining and "attitude" - came back early because of it. Never again.

    Thanks Trevor,

Although to be honest, the camera picks up things that the eyes don't see quite as vividly.

    Thanks Mike,

Unfortunately that's a major copyright violation ... ah what the heck, it's Christmas!

Seriously, I had a friend do exactly the same thing - they must have something going for them!
