Hello Costas - I can tell you 2 things, it would be too expensive for me and too heavy to carry around

Are you hoping for 1st hand experience or just the best material from reviews?

a further thought pbase lists 2700 pics taken with a D3X aswell as the Nikon press release.

If you identify someone with a portfolio similar to what you have in mind, you can consult the authors through the PM system. I found it quite useful for selecting my big lens after nearly deciding from reviews...however you would do best to at least sign up for a 30 day free trial and put a few of your own pics on to be included 'in the family'.

    1. Very expensive.
    2. Unless you are using it in a studio, buy a D3.
    3. Unless you need the high frame rate of the D3, buy a D700 and spend the difference on lenses.
    4. Unless you really really need the features of the D3x it is just an expensive ego trip, but if you do need the features it is a bloody great camera.

    Have a guess :)

Re: Need information on Nikon D3x

    Hi Costas,

By all accounts a very nice camera, but whether or not it's the right one for you is another question.

What are you shooting with now? Are you tied in to Nikon, or is the likes of Canon an option (eg 1Ds3)? (cheaper, but also superb quality).

How does the d3x compare with a medium format camera in terms of image quality?

If you use 14 bits is exceptional, unbelievable quality, even at 1600 iso ...

Sorry I forgot, this picture was take at 1600 iso and a mix of natural and artificial light.

I shot with canon 1 ds mark 2 but I changed now, and I m really happy. At the begining I didn t realised what can you do with this camera ... but now I know.

    But only in 14 BITS

    Hi Costas,

Do I gather you bought the D3x then?
    If so, congratulations

Rather than have five "one liner" posts, were you aware that having submitted a post, you can re-open it to add/remove lines yourself? (Just click the 'Edit Post' button)
If you were aware and actually wanted all those separate posts, then that's fine.

BTW; the picture link wouldn't work for me (it says Forbidden), I am at work, but I don't think that is relevant - however, I may be wrong and so I will edit this tonight if I can see it OK from home.

UPDATE: As with Anton, it is the same from home.

    Regards,

I can't see the image either ("forbidden").

It must be something on that site...

    Best regards,

    Anton
