    Tampere... city of museums...

    Hi All,

    Couldn't stop myself from posting this beautiful pic.... this single tree is enough to tell you definition of multiple colors..... I was in Tampere last month... the city is so beautiful....

    You are right in saying the light on the tree is spectacular.

    For me, however, the thing we have to concentrate on when seeking to make a picture as opposed to just taking a photo, is to concentrate on what is in all of the frame. For example, in this one you do indeed have a beautiful tree. But you also have the top part of a lot of vehicles; a concrete structure to the right of the tree which seems to be some sort of pillar or post; a flagpole with a flag on it that is sticking up into the sky in a rather distracting way and a building going out of the right-hand side that does not seem particularly attractive and has no relationship to the tree.

    And what all of this is about is composition. When we are looking through the viewfinder, we have to look at every part of what is visible and ask ourselves if it all works together as an image. I am quite sure that if you had moved around and studied the compositional options, you could have found a much better angle from which to capture the tree. For example, the building on the left behind the tree, looks interesting.
