Playing with Photoshop CS-5 and Photoshop Elements PSE-10

Amazingly, the inexpensive Photoshop Elements PSE-10 is a very powerful program which which can do much of what can be accomplished in Photoshop CS-5.

However, content aware fill appears to be more sophisticated in CS-5 than in PSE-10.

I can select an area in CS-5 go to edit and select content aware fill and the results are usually just short of miraculous.

But, with PSE-10 I must use the spot healing brush tool and select "content aware". The results don't seem to be quite as undetectable as in CS-5.

I wish I had my copy of CS-5 on this computer so I could contrast the differences.

Is there an add-on for PSE-10 which will increase the capability of content aware fill?

    Hi Richard,

I can't answer the question I'm afraid, but if this helps, you can usually invoke content aware fill on CS5 just by pressing the delete key (or shift-F5)

Hi Richard, I have been looking for something like this myself recently and found this. It seems to work OK in PSE9 which I believe was the first Elements version to have Spot Healing. Presumably it should work in PSE 10 but I don't know for sure. To download thie script files, you need to join Elements Village which is no big deal.

And here is the procedure to install.

    Cheers Dave
