This is a common question; so having written it out for someone recently, I thought it would bear placing here for re-use.
How to post pictures inline using ImageShack
Pictures should ideally be no more than approx. 1000 pixels width, jpg and about 50-300kB in size. Use Image - Resize to reduce the pixel dimensions, but if you need help with this, just ask in the forums saying what software you are using.
The CiC pages will display them at 680px width with an expansion bar option, if you don't like this, post at 680px or less. However, anything much less makes photo critique quite difficult.
Uploading full res images is not recommended because it takes so long to download everytime someone tries to read the thread they are in and also, it could get stolen. On the latter topic; we'd rather have a smaller un-watermarked image than a huge watermarked one.
We'll be using the imageshack facility here, within the "Upload your images to ImageShack" panel below the Message box, which you can find when you are posting or replying;
1) Click "Browse" button and find where the picture is on your computer's hard disk drive (HDD)
2) Highlight the filename and click the "Open" button
3) Now click "Host It" and wait a little while
4) You should now have a new browser tab or window open with the image shack picture in
5) Highlight all of the text inside the topmost orange box (the one that says "Direct link to image" alongside it and copy all this text to the clipboard
(The best way to do this is is click to place the cursor in the orange box before the "http", then press "Shift"+"End" on your keyboard, this highlights all of the URL, then just copy it "Ctrl"+"C")
6) Go back to your message in the CiC tab/window
7) Find the little icon that looks like this;, when you hover the mouse over it, it should say "Insert Image", now click it
8) Now use Ctrl+V to paste the text into the pop up that opened (leave the http:\\ highlighted so that gets replaced - you don't want two of these)
9) Click OK to close the pop up
This will have inserted the copied text between two IMG tags, don't edit inside these
Note: You won't actually see the pictures inline until you post/submit them.
Although you can preview them by clicking "Go advanced"
Here is an example image
Hope that helps,
