Santa With an Important Reminder About Christmas

As a Christian, Christmas isn’t about Santa Claus but I managed to capture a really nifty image of “Santa” while photographing the Dog and Pony Show Parade in the northern California town of McCloud. (You can see the shots of the parade in the McCloud gallery on my website.) I really liked the image and wanted to use it to create a Christmas card on my Zazzle website but didn’t want to use Santa to represent Christmas so I used Santa to remind us of what Christmas is really about. I liked the way it turned out. As you can see, I made two versions of the same image.

This will be my Christmas card to my CIC friends

Here's the second version with a bit of a vintage look:

Excellent work, Chuck. An excellent image and good graphics work in producing the card.

Thank you Donald. It took at least an hour and a half to create. I'm not very fast at this kind of thing. The shot itself was a bit of luck as I was ducking and dodging frantic kids and parents wanting to visit Santa. I found a clear angle and he glanced in my direction, perhaps at me, and waived so I took the shot.

    Chuck...

A great card! Merry Christmas to you and yours...

I a, in the midst of preparing to shoot the family Christmas card and will share it with all my CiC friends...

Perhaps it would be most efficient to have a thread of Christmas cards so we can place our card in the thread and anyone interested in Christmas Cards could look in one place to see everyone's cards...

Thanks Richard...a card thread might be a good idea.

I'm a bit of a fuddy duddy since for me Christmas starts around the end of December. But I like the photo and the vintage look.

Join the club - I do my Christmas shopping 2 or 3 days before. My neighbour's house is already full of flashing lights and a big blow-up Santa, and I still need to get our (fake) tree out of the attic.
But we had a neighbourhood "Visit Santa" for the kids, and I got some decent pictures out of it. I'll try to use one of those as a Christmas card in this thread before December 25!
