    On Golden Pond

Taken on my old Nikon D50,300mm zoom hand held,we were holidaying on a houseboat on the Murray river in Sth Australia, the gold colour comes from the cliffs along side the river, would appreciate any c&c. Thanks On Golden Pond

    Malcolm,

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on a beautiful image. The light is truly golden... I like how you maintained the white pelican feathers. It contrasts handsomely against the golden reflections. That looks like a stunning location for a river holiday. I'm envious!

Thanks Paul, it was a great holiday, although the river was at very low levels. Mal

I agree with what's already been said.

Normally, with one like this, you'd maybe ask if a crop to make the subject (the bird) bigger would be in order. But that's not feasible or, I think, desirable, in this case. The background is as much the subject as the bird. And I can't see a crop that would keep that trail of water behind the bird (which has to stay) and still allow enough in front to have the bird 'going into' the frame
