    Lightning 11/07/11

    After waiting all year for a decent storm, I finally got some decent lightning pictures. I wish I could have got away from town for these, but this storm came in quick and I didn't have time to get anywhere to set up.

    This one was LOUD!!!! After it struck, my 11 year old, who was outside with me, went back in the house saying something about a need to change boxers.

    Not special, but a pretty nice strike;

    How long are your exposures for these?

    To some extent, I think having buildings in the scene adds to the dramatic effect.

    I really like the way these came out, especially since this is one of the only storms we have had in this part of Texas all year.

    As far as the exposure time is concerned, I use a cable lock and hold the shutter open when shooting at night. Shooting during the day is a lot more challenging and it becomes a case of being more lucky than good when taking day time pics of lightning.
