    Fall in Ohio

I bought a new camera. Canon T3i. Took some pictures at the park. Lens used was: Sigma 28-300mm. Critic away! Thanks.

Okay - How about cropping it to a 5:4 landscape ratio, retaining the present right-hand, top and bottom and cutting at the left-hand side? Would that make a better or poorer composition?

I think the idea behind this image and your execution of it are superb. The concept and composition is creative. The choice of DoF is perfect.

An impressive first post up on CiC. Welcome on board, Angie.

    beautiful shot! welcome Angie!
I agree with Donald, I just would like to cut a bit also at bottom to put the leaf lower in the frame.
and what about brightening the red a bit ?
    cheers

Okay here we go...I agree with the cropping suggestions. @Nicola - not sure how to brighten the red on the leaf, it truly was that red.

I think that's it's fine (so long as the author of the image approves) that the rest of us offer alternative interpretations. But what we've got to remember is that there was only one person there at the time and able to form a vision of the final image based on what she/he was looking at.

James, nicely done, the leaf is the focal point afterall. I actually did play with the color of the leaf on Picasa and Picnik. However, when picking my first photo I was afraid to post something that I doctored up too much. I posted an unedited picture for critic. So do I like what you did, very much so. I will try and be more daring in the future.
