    Time Shift

    -

I don't know if people in other parts of the world are experiencing this, but here in SW France the months seem to be out of sync with the season.
Normally by mid October the leaves are virtually gone from the trees but as you can see many are quite green still. This month, until a couple of days ago, the daytime temperatures have been hovering around 30° Celcius and 20° at night, perhaps 10° above norm.

Here are three images taken in the last couple of weeks from around where I live, and the countryside looks as if it were early September.

Has anyone else noticed something similar happening in their neck of the woods ?

    That looks idyllic Mike

I don't think it is so obvious here, I don't think even the SE of England has had such an unbroken spell of warm weather as you have enjoyed.

We got about a week of it (hot weather) after a disappointing June, July, August and first half of September However, the leaves are now just beginning to fall in the SE.

    Cheers,

As everyone probably knows, it's evidence of global warming - caused by all the photographers trapping light and converting it into heat energy in their digital camera sensors.

    Good one Philip

If that's the case, then someone should invent a 'green' camera !
How about a device that captures images on a strip of triacetate film coated with a light-sensitive emulsion ? Could do away with all those nasty digital sensors

This entire 'global warming' thing is rather fascinating. The earth has been under continual change since it was formed. Sometimes the changes occur extremely rapidly (as with an asteroid hit or a volcano exploding), sometimes the changes take millions of years (at one time most of North America was ocean), but most of the time, it’s variable somewhere in between.

These days, however, when we notice a climate/weather change we have to find somebody to blame! Like, who got blamed before (tongue-in-cheek) there were photographers trapping light in their digital camera sensors???

Facinating is one word for it ... but I can think of several others!

Wow - We've had AIDS / SARS / Bird Flu / Y2K ... and now "global warming" ... I wonder what my hard-earned $$$ will be needed to save the world from next?

Pole shifts caused by aliens converting water to energy, causing global warming.

Global warming or not, we are experiencing the same conditions here in New York. Not only are the leaves still on the trees, but the colors have been muted.
