    Red

A chance encounter when leaving a Hong Kong cross-harbour swim event.

As always, all comments (good would be nice, bad even better) will be deeply appreciated.

Will either make a good black and white candidate and why?

    Apologies for spamming the board.

    Thanks.

You have the concrete foundations of a long series there, Bobo.

(Is that comment bad enough for you?!)

Hard to say, Philip, hard to say.

Probably what I meant was constructive rather then concrete bad.

    Re: Red

I'm not good at critique because I always think things are done on purpose; the first is my favourite and I suppose I would remove the motorcyclist.
Everything else could be B+W+Red, or is that out of fashion.

S***t, I forgot that m/c in #1, but would leave it in the "environment" for the other 2.

Never done selective colours so not sure what is in or out in that regard.

    Thanks Steve.

Bobo, in No.1, I would be very tempted to change the man's shirt colour to red also, but I don't know how to do that!

    Hehe but that is cheating...

Orange is a variation on Red so it is still red.
"Orange, a close relative of red, sparks more controversy than any other hue. There is usually strong positive or negative association to orange and true orange generally elicits a stronger "love it" or "hate it" response than other colors. Fun and flamboyant orange radiates warmth and energy."

I like #3 best. Four subjects in a statement, 1 is the Mini-Cooper, 2 is the line of trucks, 3 is the truck being unloaded, and 4 is the motorcyclist (separated out from the pack). I like it!

    Re: Red

Hi Bobo, I like #3 best as the car seems to be leading a parade of trucks and it has more action. I think I would crop it a bit to get rid of most of the black truck-butt on the far left. A similar crop to #2 but with less foreground.

    Re: Red

#1 would be my choice, as it is less "busy", but I would clone out
the tail end of the MC.

Red trucks with purple bumpers? Hong Kong needs a new Color Coordinator.
That's got to be a "fashion foul" of the worse kind! Red

    Thanks John, Frank, Mike.
Will re-edit based on your suggestions. Thanks for the wonderful input - my head is exploding from all the new input you guys give me for each set of pics.

About colour sense - HK in general has great colour sense. Cannot say the same about those from Mainland China who have setup shop here. Those trucks belong to some Mainland Chinese group and I would bet that the boss selected that colour combination. Concrete rollers owned by HK companies are generally very mute in colour, usually a dull yellow (so the dirt wont show). Will see if I can catch one on my walks.

Fashion sense of the newly rich but culturally deprived is a sight. But they are catching up very fast. I could tell a Mainlander just by looking at him/her, much more difficult nowadays but still possible.

Take this pic for example - a HK lady would rather be dead then dress this way.

    Red

But as I said, they are catching up very quickly but one can still tell.

    Red

A HK lady would be like this - chic but unassuming. The guy in purple behind her would be a Mainlander from that heavy gold chain he is wearing.
