    Biker

    Hi.

I took this one after a brief rain, on a bridge.

What I tried to capture on the scene was the shadow of the biker in contrast to the bright tone of the road.

Now in my computer I thought a BW version may look nice, although I don't know how to convert to BW correctly (I'm using GIMP and Canon DPP).

The last crop I found maybe more dynamic than the first two, but I'm not sure about cropping out the shadow.

    All comments welcome.

    Tońo,

I thought #2 was the best of the three. #1 was just too bright, and the lens flare
was a bit distracting. Did you consider a tighter crop on just the biker?

    Hello Mike

At one moment I did, but was not sure about it. I also got distracted thinking of making the clouds look better...
But now you pointed it out, it is a nice crop. Maybe a little too tight on the top, but it certainly works

The lens flare is distracting and I am sure you could lose its worst effects with a bit of PP.

I personally think the scene benefits from the sky, otherwise it looks 'crushed'?

    Just my tu'pence worth...

    Hi Toņo,

Just tossed it out there as an idea, and honestly didn't take much time with the crop.
I agree with Ian, in that taking most of the sky out made it a bit crushed looking,
but it did accent the road stripe and bring it in as an element.

Maybe you can find some balance in there that works for both?

I would say the second image is definitely the best. Plenty of dark contrast and that long shadow really works well.

    Thanks for your input guys.

Any suggestions about how I can remove the lens flare from the first picture?

I'm not quite sure which item you mean? Is it that little blue bit on the horizontal arm of the lamp post?

I actually thought that was some form of warning light.

If this is the area in question it should, with care, clone out successfully.
