    Distance Setting

    Hi,

Anyone who could help me understand the concept of Distance Setting related to Depth of Field? Can someone give me a practical example: understand the lens setting, which part of the lens should i look at to set this, etc...

    thanks,

    Hi there,

Well, the obvious answer is the lens' distance scale

If you're talking DoF, maybe you've read somewhere that it is marked on the lens - well sadly these days, it rarely is.

What with AF, zoom and minimalist designs, even a usable distance scale is almost a thing of the past.

In olden days, they would put a line either side of the focus position, labelled with an aperture like 8, 11, or 16 - but this really only applies to prime lenses - another rarity these days.

    Is that what you mean?
Also, could you tell us a first name please?

    Cheers,
