    Popeye's favourite food

Mrs ucci planted this in order to induce me to eat more greens. Fell in love with the colour, still hate the taste. For those not in the know it is Red Leg Spinach.

Best recipe: Cook till soft. Drain and serve up smothered with pepper, salt and heaps of butter. Add more butter. Then throw away the horrid green mushy stuff and get stuck into the condiments and butter with a side dish of freshly baked bread. Unhealthy? Who cares! Tastes great!
    Thanks for viewing

    Yep, that's the stuff...

Only way I can get it down my gullet is fresh and uncooked in a salad. It's actually good that
way; add a vinaigrette dressing and I'll eat it all day long.

Cook it, and I'm not even staying in the house...Popeye's favourite food

Are you sure you've got the name right ? I grow something which is very similar in appearance, Swiis Chard (a relative of beetroot). Nice photogragh though -red contrasts so well with green.

    Hi Jim,
Sure have! Believe me, nothing mimics the terrible taste of mushy spinach! Can understand how it helped Popeye. After eating a can of spinach you would be more than ready to punch out anyone's lights, even his beloved Olive's! It is such disgusting stuff!
