    Ghost Gum

We have over 500 species of gum tree in Australia but one of my favourites is the Ghost Gum and they was its white bark stands out against the red backdrop of Central Australia.

Hi Frank, the light was coming from a break in the cloud and I had to wait until it hit the tree before taking this image.

    Nice image.

I know there are a number of gums and mallees with white bark, many regional. Where in Central Australia did you take this shot ?

    Hi Steaphany,

It was in Arkaroola, South Australia. Arkaroola is in the Northern Flinders Ranges, getting closer the the Northern Territory border. It is the last area of any thermal activity in Australia (but still very minimal) and probably the most rugged area of Australia I have been to.
