Timeouts
McQ
I have twice attempted to reply to a post this afternoon. Although the replies were reasonably lengthy, I have been timed out on both occasions.
Frustrating!
Is there any way of resolving this, as it has never been a problem in the past.

Re: Timeouts
I will look into this asap. Just got back from a road trip. Is this timeout occuring after you click the post buttom (in other words, the website is hanging), or is this timeout the one which causes you to need to log back in? Thanks.

Re: Timeouts
I had two occasions on Saturday/ Sunday when I had to log in again to preview a post. I didn't pay much attention at the time, as I had 2 sessions open, and thought I had mixed them up. One time the modified text I was working on was lost.

Re: Timeouts
ok, that helps me diagnose it. I think I know what you are talking about. Will post back here tomorrow when it's fixed.

Re: Timeouts
The session timeout duration has been increased from 20 minutes to 1 hour. This ought to fix it. Let me know if you're still encountering problems with timeouts during posting.

Re: Timeouts
McQ,
Thanks, I have been away, hence my lack of immediate reply, but I think you received the reply I would have given by SRH. eg it was requiring me to log back in and losing replies in the process. (You would not believe how many times I rewrote the tripod thread message!)
No problems encountered since getting back so I think you have cured it. Thanks!

Re: Timeouts
I always create my replies in a word processor first. That allows me to scroll around the forum to make sure I didn’t get something wrong, spelling and grammar checking is automatic, and if a friend stops by I can simply stop what I’m doing and come back to it hours later. When I try to post, if the forum freezes for some reason it’s not a problem...I just wait till the problem clears up and try to post again. The text is safe in the word processor.

Re: Timeouts
Graystar,
Thats what I ended up doing. But generally unless the reply is going to be a long one I don't normally bother.
Anyway McQ has sorted it now, as I have had no further problems whatsoever.
