30 deg. right, natural light(setting sunlight)

30 deg. left, reflected light from a spot light bulb. I reflected it off a white poster board, about 4 feet from subject.

Flash camera mounted---1/32 power


The combination of the light and the flash, made a huge difference in stopping the wings. Most of the shots still have movement, but nowhere near what it was with just the flash. This one froze nicely.

Yeh, it's not too bad ..... he said jealously!

I think one of the other major lessons from this is - Look at the ISO setting.

This would scare-the-pants of a lot of people who would have visions of unmanageable noise. But get the exposure right and noise is not a problem.

I think you could push the ISO even further, depending on what the capabilities are of your camera, if you wanted an even faster shutter speed. It is easy to remove from the plain background in PP and would not be as noticable on the bird itself. What do ya reckon?
