Small boy, big music
His big brother is in the school band, and he can't wait.
C&C welcome. I think the focus is a bit off, also I can't decide whether the toy visible through the tuba adds to or detracts from the image.

Re: Small boy, big music
Hi David. This is an excellent photo for the family album for sure :)
For me the toy is great, as it likely represents the personality of the musician.
A couple thoughts on making improvements:
I would probably crop quite a bit tighter - the empty window at the top and the couch at the bottom only seem to distract from the subject.
If you were to shoot a similar photo in the future, I would try to keep some balance on the background behind the face - in this photo it's pretty bright on one side and dark on the other.
It looks like you used a fill flash? I generally avoid using any light source in line with the camera, though not always. When I do I usually adjust the Flash Exposure Value too to 'reduce' the fill. Bouncing a flash can produce great effects :)

Re: Small boy, big music
Thanks for the comment Brian. You are right, I did use a flash, as the light was a bit low inside. Next time I will look at reducing the level.

If you can bounce, try that, though this does take just a little longer to get a photo.
What kind of flash are you using?
