First day out with the new 550D
Got a 550D couple of weeks ago to replace my old and dying 300D. Here are a couple of shots on the first day out with the camera. C&C welcome.

Re: First day out with the new 550D
Hi Abhi,
They're looking a little over-saturated on my screen.
Re: First day out with the new 550D
Mine too, not that I don't like the color, just looks beyond real.
Is that a color setting you set in the camera?
Re: First day out with the new 550D
Thanks, guys. They are a little over-saturated. I tend to over the top in my PP :(.
Here it is desaturated a little using Picnik. There was this orange glow from on the dirt mound from the setting sun, which I want to bring out. Probably, de-saturating the reds and blues separately be better.

and the second before I bumped up saturation and contrast in Picnik. I felt it was a little flat after uploading.

Do these look better?
Brian, the saturation is a result of my PP. They were shot in RAW, and I used ACR for raw conversion. If you wish, I can upload the RAW, or SOOC files as well.
Re: First day out with the new 550D
Kindly upload the RAW files for comparison, Abhi. From what I'm seeing, your new camera looks awesome! Congratulations. :)

Thanks. The new camera is certainly much better than my old 300D, Three times more pixels and much better noise performance. And the live view mode is useful to take shots at weird angles. :D
Here are the raw files.

Any PP suggestions?

Abhi, here's my interpretation of your first image. I have to say your new camera performed quite well on the details. As for the color and contrast, I selected "Camera Portrait" mode on the camera profile as I believe it produced a more saturated and yet faithful rendition of the colors. Congratulations on the new camera. I think you will love it starting now. :)

As for the camera, I have been happy with it, and enjoying it. Less noise, no dust spots to worry about, and all those extra pixels.

Congratulations, Abhi, on your new camera!:) This might sound a bit odd:o, but, that's beautiful dirt!

Haha. Thank, you Katy. I wish I could truly show you how the "beautiful dirt" looked basking in the light of the setting sun after a afternoon shower. :)

Nice touch on the foreground lighting Jiro, it really adds depth to the image. I wouldn't have thought to do that in PP. I must open my mind to new possibilities...
