    Red-winged Blackbird (again)

Went out yesterday with a 22mm extension tube attached to the 70-300 and came back with these.

Same bird, different poses - was quite co-operative

The wooden railing that he landed on is blown-out. It was either that or an underexposed bird. How can this be fixed in PP or is it ok to leave it as-is?

Please leave constructive comment. I have thick skin.

    Thanks.

WOW and triple WOW, I have been scratching my head all day and you come up with a fix in seconds. WOW!

Is there somewhere to read up on the technique ? As you may know by now this is a PS/LR noob here.

I know you have lots on your plate - but please ....??

I will try to make a tutorial for this, Bobo. If only I have a software that makes tutorial easier like camtasia. Hahaha! It's hard to explain all those simple shortcut tricks with photoshop commands by typing the sequence. I made the edit in less than 10 minutes and I am having a hard time explaining it by typing it. If you want I can make a link and send you the actual .psd file (I saved the whole file in case you need it). Let me know if you want it so you can play around with how I did the edit on your computer.

Got it, studying it right now. The psd is pretty easy to follow.

    Thanks.

OK. Enjoy fiddling with the layers then. If you want you can duplicate the whole file first so in case you want to add your own edit on the .psd file the original edited file is still intact. That's how I usually do it so my learning curve is better.

That was good- I've just downloaded LR 3.4.1-thanks.

The photos are very good - I saw red-winged blackbirds for the first time on my recent trip to the US but the red was really red-as they flew by I saw these strong red 'flashes' on the wings -they were very abundant birds -I can't recall what State I was in or maybe they are all over the Mid West but I'm sure I didn't see them in MO so it was TX OK and KS -anyone know if the colouring is a deeper red down south (from Ontario) ?

Thanks John - not so sure about the "redness" but they are supposed to be quite abundant around these parts. But that is the only place where they seem friendly enough to come close.
