    Another shot - another place.

I thought (I think too much) that it might be a good idea to widen our appreciation of photographs that are taken somewhere else apart from CiC. So, post here your 'other shots' from whatever source is available. It might be other sites, newspapers/mags, photographers websites, etc. It would be useful to give some background info to go with the link. Please make sure you give an appropriate credit if you post the image directly to CiC.

Here is mine. It's Harry, posted on Ephotozine photography forum.

Well, you can pick any one of her photos. She's a hero and a mentor (I am SO lucky!) and is the online friend that I met at the Botanical Gardens when I went to NYC. A huge source of inspiration for me - can you tell?

George Barr is a Calgary physician and photographer whom I discovered when I stumbled across his book, Taking Your Photography to the Next Level. I have since bought his second book, From Camera to Computer, as well. I think all of his portfolios are worth browsing, but this is as good a place to start as any. I thought Donald in particular might appreciate his B&W landscape work.

There's some very good B&W shots there. His use of light is very good. I keep meaning to do more rock shots like that, but it's hard to find the right locations.

If you'll allow me another contribution, I have one for the dog lovers in the group. I know or have known most of the dogs pictured here, as one of their owners is a co-worker. The other, Craig Koshyk, owns the photography school I attended this spring. Tonight I attended the launch of the product of Craig's 12-year labour of love, Pointing Dogs, Volume 1: The Continentals. Prints of a number of fine photos from the book were hanging on the studio walls, but my favorite was the shot of the two Weimaraners at the foot of the staircase from the Dog is My Copilot series.

Come to Canada! You don't even have to leave the highway to find them in the Rockies.

This shot was in the UK Guardian today. I thought it was a great war shot. It's by Baz Ratner via Reuters. Here is the full link. http://uk.reuters.com/news/pictures/...UKRTR2NM6D#a=1

I think Charlie Colmer is one of the best street photographers around (based in London). His other shots are well worth a look. Some are very funny. Here is his site http://www.charliecolmer.com/Colmer/page2735

I've seen his work before and used many of his images in my teaching...he's great and my kids really like him.

This one is not for those of you with a nervous disposition when it comes to insects... http://www.flickr.com/photos/ashmashmash/5839551512/

His droplet shots are spectacular! No one does it better http://www.flickr.com/photos/ashmash...7622927801969/

    I wish he'd join CiC...

FP magazine is currently running a five-part photo essay consisting of shots taken on iPhones by photojournalists embedded with Marines in Afghanistan. The shots have been taken using the Hipstamatic app and are quite stunning. This sampling is from the work of Balazs Gardi:

    Another shot - another place.
