Hi Folks,

Here we go again :)

Same rules as before ...

- No theme

- Picture needs to be less than a month old at the time they're submitted

- Enter as many pictures as you like, but only 1 per post please!

- Don't forget to state your team!

PS: Just a quick reminder when voting ... What I need first and foremost is the post number - had to disqualify one vote this week (wouldn't have changed the result) because it was a vote for "Dave Humphries" - and "unfortunately" Dave had 4 images entered this week - so I have no idea as to which one was meant.

Fuji S6500, 1/600 @ f5.6, ISO200 at an equivalent focal legth of 136mm.
PP in 2 layers from two different RAW conversions to reduce the sky exposure by 1.5 stops to give a bit of detail, my first attempt at that. Click picture to see FULL sized original.

I like this full-on view Dave, but it looks grainy at posted size on my monitor. I'm no expert but "over sharpened" comes to mind. When I click for full size, we jump into your gallery and the picture becomes HUGE.. about twice the size of my screen.
Hope you don't mind this comment but I'm saying like I see it, mate.

I don't see "grainy" on mine, at least not in the sense of noise in the sky, it might be over sharpened on the detail though, what do others think?
It suffered a double jpg save at the last minute :mad: (my stupidity), although I thought I'd got away with that, maybe not :o

Yes, the full size is about 2823 x 1865, unfortunately PBase seems to consider 800 pixels as large, which is hardly a noticeable increase on the 675 width I posted. If anyone knows a way to make their default large size, say 1024, please let me know.

:) I was quite impressed the 6MP camera resolved the words "Theatre Royal" on the building centred below the round tower! If I downsize from fullsize, that kind of detail would go.

I don't mind Roxy, I'm here to learn and improve my photography and PP skills.

Hi Dave,

Don't see grainy either.I will agree it's a bit over sharpened.I'm still learning the nuances of sharpening myself.I like all the details in your photo.

Hi Dave,

Even on a 24" Mac, I dont see any grain (although I still have to scroll the image!).

The sharpening is apparent though especially around the parapets and pinnacles of what I presume to be the Chapel on the right hand side.

I take it you got your feet slightly wet standing there, unless you were in a boat.

I do find it useful to have the Meta gen here too. This is a fabulous flower shot, vibrant and demanding attention.

Are the petals on the right suffering from a slight lack of DoF (Might it have been better to open it out to f11?) or is it a result of the lens design and edge quality?

Nevertheless a quite outstanding shot.

Yes,it's the f stop and also the flower was tilted slightly.I shot it that way to draw attention to center of the flower. I see the DoF on the right is a bit more shallow than the left.

Ah, yes those pinnacles on St. Georges Chapel (even if it is the size of a small cathedral), that's not sharpeneing, that's me getting lazy manually erasing and bits of sky/pinnacle where they shouldn't be! It was the first time I tried doing this and I did it all manually, I'm sure there's an easier way, I'll try harder next time.

Nope, no wet feet, no boat; the river bends there and the foreground disappeared due to the 135mm focal length.

Been out shooting again today :) , so in a day or so, they'll be another one or two.

I know the gear is not everything, but 50D, 1D, Hasselblad even...my head is just spinning here!:eek:
got me thinking that if I stopped procrastinating and actually got out to take some pics and post one here, I might even win an EOS1D (you know, one of those Tareq is not using anymore....:D)

I think i should post one shot from each of my 9 cameras, in this case Canon will win because 7 are Canon.

The weekly team result doesn't work that way - points for the team result are only taken from the top three photos so that teams with smaller numbers still have an even chance ...

... So it's not "many cameras you've got" - it's "how many people vote for the shots you get from them".

Thanks! Nothing special going on here, shot was exactly as I saw it, just focusmagic-ed and used an adjustment layer to boost the contrast slightly. Oh, slightly cropped actually.

(This was my first trip out with the 5d mk2 and somehow I managed to leave the camera shooting jpeg only, rather than my normal raw. I was a little bit frustrated that I ended up with an 8-bit jpeg rather than a 14-bit raw. Ho-hum.)
