    Raw (NEF)

    G'day, I have a nikon D3100 and have tried shooting in raw mode, which for the D3100 is (NEF) format, I have Photoshop Elements 8 and I have downlaoded a trial of elements 9 but neither of them will open the NEF files.
    Does any body else have this problem?

    Download the latest Adobe Camera RAW - http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=5024 - and you should be up and running.

    Hi Peter,

    Robin has posted the DNG converter, which is free and allows conversion to DNG format which Elements can open, but it isn't the exact thing you need I suspect.

    Here's the link to download ACR 6.4 for Elements 9:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=5030

    and when I can locate it, the highest version is 6.2 for Elements 8 ...

    ... ok, more widely useful is this (for Windows Elements users)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...atform=Windows

    Now the bad news
    ; you need ACR 6.3 for the Nikon D3100 - and that won't work with Elements 8, only 9, possibly forcing you to upgrade - or use the DNG converter that Robin posted {seems I caught up eh Robin? }

    Hi Peter,

    You might just check your camera is listed in the Elements version you have and if not do an update and it will normally add new models. This happened to me when I moved from the D70 to D300. I had to do an update on CS4 to include the new model.

    Peter,

    Since you have a Nikon D3100, why not download the free version of Nikon's ViewNX2. Only Nikon software can read all of your in camera settings.

    Here's the link: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answ...id/61#Anchor-1

    Hope this helps.

    Bob
